DOMASCO Honda Proud to be a part of Seeing is Believing Charity Auction
December 2014 – Doha: As part of its ongoing CSR initiatives, DOMASCO Honda recently donated over QR 20,000 to Seeing is Believing, the global campaign to fight preventable blindness. The charity auction was organized by Standard Chartered Bank which is spearheading this commendable effort worldwide. It was held at the St. Regis Hotel - Doha, and was hosted by Mr. Khalifa Haroon, the man behind ILoveQatar and the “Mr. Q” persona.
“Seeing is Believing” is a global initiative first launched in 2003 by Standard Chartered in order to address avoidable blindness and visual impairment. The program aims at raising funds and promoting solutions to a key health issue. While the event included dinner and a fashion show the highlight was the charity auction where guests bid for works of art created by local Qatari artists. Extra excitement was added to the auction when it was announced that DOMASCO had donated two unique Honda Elite scooters used and autographed by Marc Marquez, current MotoGP World Champion and Dani Pedrosa, current world number 4.
The only two of their kind in the world, the scooters were auctioned off for over QR 22,000, with all the proceeds going to charity.
As both DOMASCO’s and Honda’s core philosophy is to always support social and charitable initiatives, it is natural to see it participate in this event, and a program aiming to improve peoples’ lives.
“We value each and every individual in our society and we believe that everyone should be given an opportunity to improve his/her life,” said Greig Roffey, Head of Sales and Marketing of for Honda, before adding: “Therefore, DOMASCO Honda has always been proud to be involved in programs with a social focus.”
On his part, Faisal Sharif, Managing Director of DOMASCO, expressed his delight towards the company’s participation in “Seeing is Believing”, saying: “Vision is of crucial importance in our life; why not protect it when possible. Most of cases of blindness are preventable and it is important to raise awareness in this regard. DOMASCO is proud to help collecting funds in order to limit the number of people suffering from visual impairment.”
